Me Against Me

The person you are now, is not who you’re going to be 30 days, 6 months or years from now. The same is true regarding the person you were 5 years ago. The key to building lasting habits that lead to growth is to first create a new identity. Our existing behaviors are simply a reflection of our previous decisions.

It is the choices that we make that become a mirror image of the person we become.

To incur change, we must be open to believing new things about ourselves. Self-limiting beliefs are, and can be, the biggest nail in the coffin of realizing what one is truly capable of. We all get stuck in our heads and sometimes it is required that we check ourselves. Become a master of your negative, defeating thoughts. Set your ego aside and realize what’s not working for you. After all, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. This is a common theme in fitness and a primary reason why people hire coaches. It is difficult to be objective with yourself.

The good news…

You have a choice in who you become

Identify the habits that make you better, do them. It truly is that simple. The more difficult aspect is setting your ego aside to allow this to happen.

The person you want to be, find out what they do. Model those behaviors and daily actions. Would they get up early to get a start on the day, spend time prepping meals, make a weekly plan to ensure workouts happen? Spend time getting to know this person and before long that will be you. Personal accountability is a prerequisite for any worthwhile achievement.

In short, things won’t change if things don’t change. No ones stopping you…except you. Behaviors first. Results later.

You are worth it!
