Transitions: an 8-week group coaching journey

Tired of “walking the cowpath?”  Want a fresh view of your business and your life?

Adaptive and resilient, ready to learn, grow and thrive. That’s what I want to be, and what my clients want to be.  It’s all invented! So let’s invent the best we can be.

I work with people who

  1. are making transitions in their lives, their work and themselves

  2. own small businesses and feel out of control or on the edge

  3. are feeling stuck or have lost heart for what they once loved

  4. are just doing ok, but want to thrive!

I am looking for clients who are ready to develop their full potential and who will consider accepting:

  1. fully dedicated attention and support;

  2. accountability for reaching goals;

  3. powerful questions;

  4. action-based challenges;

  5. evidence-based feedback and encouragement.

We both want to know our work together will be successful. I offer a free Self-Assessment and Discovery Session so we can both find out if you have goals coaching will help you achieve, and if I’m the perfect coach for you!  Let’s have a great conversation!

-Vickie Gray, The Adaptive Coach

“... Vickie is the person you want to talk to 1-1.  She is an empathetic listener who quickly can understand any problem you face.  She has vast experience coaching hundreds of people and knows how to quickly identify and work through whatever blocks you are facing, personally or professionally.”

Michele McCarthy, Seattle

CEO, McCarthy Technologies, Inc.

Author, “Software For Your Head”

“I've only worked with Vickie for a short time, but in that time she has helped me tremendously. She has an exceptional ability to hone in on the issues and ask the kind of questions that really get you thinking. As a small business owner, it is wonderful to have an experienced coach like Vickie to help me be as strategic and effective as possible. Her passion for coaching and respect for her clients make Vickie really stand out as a leader in her field.”

Cindy Schulson, San Diego

   “...In these first 9 weeks that Vickie has coached me, I have made a career change, started my own business, connected with new clients, launched a new professionally written and designed website, begun a successful referral network with colleagues and changed my communication approach with my colleagues.

    “Vickie's open and responsive style helped me notice a thought pattern that was inaccurately framing my understanding of my interactions with others around leadership.  Now that I'm aware of it and pro-actively work on it, I've handed off projects I'm not interested in and, to my surprise, was almost immediately offered a new leadership opportunity I wanted.

    “I'm focused on the things I want to do and less distracted by things that don't matter.  And whats more, having things go great is really fun and inspiring.

    “Whoever's reading this....good luck!  You're in for a terrific opportunity with Vickie.”

Sandy Gerding, Chicago

    “...Vickie lives up to her coaching name wonderfully. She adapts to her client’s needs by really getting behind and underneath what they are saying to understand and really “hear” them.  She emanates sensitivity and wisdom which creates a real trust for her clients.”

Vanessa Smith, Madrid

  2. own small businesses and feel out of control or on the edge

  3. are feeling stuck or have lost heart for what they once loved

Some examples of reasons clients have worked with me:

  1. A young, newly promoted manager at a company that has no mentoring program, who is about to get married, is overwhelmed by the seriousness of the transitions he’s going through at work and in his personal life.  He wants someone to help him get focused and work through times of self-doubt and discouragement.

  1. A middle-aged man is building the business and life he’s wanted since he was 18. He wants to build new habits of thought and behaviour to sustain his new life.  He knows that checking in with a coach weekly will help him stay focused and accountable to himself as he builds the new habits, so he can eventually move forward on his own.

  1. A successful young mother is starting her business and wants a coach to walk with her, challenge and support her to go beyond her automatic assumptions about what she’s capable of.

  1. A young businesswoman wants support for developing management behaviours and communication skills, and a chance to brainstorm and test ideas about some specific employee issues she is afraid to deal with.

  2. A middle-aged woman with a successful business, who is about to get married and be a step-mom, is realizing she doesn’t know who she is anymore outside of work.  She wants to get clarity about that so she can move into her new roles with intent while keeping the business thriving.

Adaptive coaching is a specific, client-centred approach that respects each client’s right to an individually tailored coaching relationship.  I recognize individual preferences for learning, taking action, communication and emotional expression.
